Benefits of Magnesium!

Magnesium supplementation can have many benefits. However, there are so many forms of magnesium supplementation, many people do not know where to start! I am here to give you a very brief breakdown of the most common forms to help you decide which is best for you!

  1. Magnexium Oxide — the form most people are familiar with. Can help manage heartburn or sour stomach and also help relieve constipation
  2. Magnesium Chloride — helps raise magnesium levels, can help with muscle cramps, migraines and PMS type symptoms. Well absorbed in spray/oil cream preparations.
  3. Magnesium Glycinate — helps relieve stress, anxiety and sleep distrurbances. Promotes muscle relaxation, improves mood and sleep. 
  4. Magnesium Malate — great for muscle recovery as it soothes and relaxes sore muscles. Think epsom salt baths, but is also available orally.
  5. Magnesium Taurate —for improved mood, headaches and anxietyMagnesium Bisglycinate—for sleep, inflammation and exercise recovery
  6. Magnesium L-Threonate —for brain health, supports cognition and memory. Can also reduce symptoms associated with anxiety and depression
  7. Magnesium Citrate — raises magnesium levels, supports digestion/constipation. "Mag-Citrate" liquid is used as a quick acting laxative 

This list is not an all-inclusive list of all available forms of magnesium, but of the most common. As you can see, many forms of magnesium can have overlapping benefits with other forms. If magnesium is a supplement you are considering adding to your regimen, you may need to entertain some 'trial and error' to see which form works best for you!
